Opening Reception : Dima Kroma: Reflections on Home, Roots and Belonging

  • FSCJ Deerwood Center- Gallery, 2nd Floor 9911 Old Baymeadows Road Jacksonville, FL, 32256 United States (map)

The artist uses paint, paper collage and other media, with three-dimensional Arabic letters. This represents the voice of her identity, roots, and current self, extending beyond the canvas into the space of the observer to be felt and understood. These works capture the memories of Syria, her home of origin, and the rich experiences she has gathered in her new home, the U.S., with all the challenges and triumphs. The artworks invite dialogue and reflection on the broader experiences of immigrants, roots, identity, and belonging.
