Arlington Gardens & More Tour & Symposium

38th Annual Dancin’ in the Street

JAX Fashion Runway Show at Karpeles Grand

Lager Than Life at Ruby Beach
Rinse and Repeat Records is running the decks all evening with back-to-back house sets from T.Laabs, Its.Chad, SatelliteFrank, Evan Cavallini, Lewis ID, and Popuh. $5 lagers and cocktail specials will be flowing while Ruby Beach Smoke handles the food truck fix. Local vendors like Disco Dolly Vintage, MSW Stained Glass, and Time and Placers Eyewear are posted up on the lawn. It’s a full block of beats, brews, and browsing in the middle of Downtown. Think Lager Appreciation Month, but louder.

5th Annual Emancipation Celebration
This is where you’ll find me! The 5th annual Emancipation Celebration returns to LaVilla, presented by Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman and The Ritz Theatre & Museum. The Katz Downstairz lead the lineup with more performers TBA, alongside food trucks, vendors, and family activities. It’s held on the historic grounds of the Johnson brothers' childhood home, marking 160 years since Florida officially ended slavery. Co-presented with Friends of James Weldon Johnson Park and the City of Jacksonville. This year also includes a May 20 press conference at City Hall recognizing the original 1865 proclamation.

Geometric Patterns from the Alhambra Palace with Artist Dima Kroma
Artist Dima Kroma leads a hands-on workshop exploring the geometric artistry of the Alhambra Palace. The evening includes a short talk, guided drawing session, and dinner featuring Mediterranean cuisine. Open to ages 14+ and presented in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Attendees will leave with a finished piece and a deeper look at Islamic architectural design.

Publix Family Movie Night: “Wicked” at the Ballpark
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp host a family-friendly screening of Wicked on the stadium’s high-definition video board for just $1 per person. Residuals: After the Moment at Untitled Art Space
A two-night farewell exhibition from Jaylene Cabrera, joined by Moriyana Nieves and Madeline Trudeau. Nearly everything is priced to move—Jaylene relocates right after the show, marking this as her final exhibit in Jacksonville. Pair-O-Deez follows a corporate guitarist stuck between grief, addiction, and an offbeat dream he’s trying not to lose. The film stars Clayton Miller, Karen “KK” Cherney, and Johnny C. Thomas Jr. Doors open at 7p with the screening starting at 8p. It’s the 14th feature for Hendricks, and the first to premiere right here in Jax.

Still Life Paintings by Julianna O’Hara (Opening Reception)
Julianna O’Hara’s solo show opens with a collection that zooms in on stillness—ordinary objects, lit just right, made quietly beautiful. It’s all about texture, light, and restraint, shown through her own lens. The space is fully accessible, both physically and vibe-wise. First Coast Cultural Center is keeping it free and open to the public, and the full exhibition runs through July 25.

Spotlight on the Creative Mastery of Susanne Schuenke at The Vault
Opening night for a solo exhibition featuring the internationally acclaimed works of Susanne Schuenke. Maxwell at Vystar Arena
Maxwell has artfully managed to transfix music lovers for more than two decades, releasing five studio albums, all in his own time and all duly anointed as classics. The soul singer redefined soul music in April of 1996 when he released his critically acclaimed debut on Columbia, 'Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite.' It earned Grammy nominations, double platinum status and RIAA gold for the single, "Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)." The platinum albums 'Embrya' (1998) and 'Now' (2001) followed. 5th Annual Yarden Tour
Seven private yards, one freshly replanted park, and a local plant shop are opening their gates for this year’s Yarden Tour. Hosted by Riverside Avondale Preservation and The Salter Group, the day mixes backyard reveals with on-site advice from Master Gardeners. Each ticket comes with a program full of fun facts, scavenger hunt clues, and plant lists. It’s also lined up perfectly if you’re hunting for a last-minute Mother's Day move. Expect everything from lowkey lush to full-on garden goals.

Art in the Garden at Cultivate
An outdoor maker market posted up around Cultivate during the annual Yarden Tour. Featured artists include Fleurish Felt Flower Co, Kristina Hoover, Gaby Ponce, Amy Irizarry, and Yodalis L. Hope Starts Here 5K
Run through historic Springfield and along the Emerald Trail at the 4th annual Hope Starts Here 5K. Proceeds support Operation New Hope’s programs for workforce training and mental health services. The race starts and ends at the iconic Klutho building with a post-race celebration at Strings Sports Brewery. All participants get a t-shirt, and custom medals go to every finisher.

Evening Record Pop-Up at Myrtle Ave Brewing
Myrtle Ave Brewing and Modern Music team up again for an after-hours pop-up featuring vendors Seoul Records, Prime Slime, Ryshau Records, and more. DJ Papi Disco and his Wax N Whiskey crew will be spinning house, soul, and rarities on vinyl throughout the night. Food from Route 90 BBQ, plus beer, cider, and a record bin or two with your name on it.

Goth Night @ The Walrus
Goth Night returns with all the deep cuts that pair well with black eyeliner and bad decisions. The Walrus transforms into “Daddy’s Dungeon,” a fogged-up dancefloor running on darkwave, synth, and sweat. Red lipstick is unofficially the dress code. Doors open at 10p, and it’s 18+ all night. Entry runs $5 online or $7 at the door.

Reggaeton Rave at 5ive
Reggaeton Rave lands at FIVE, the new live music venue in Five Points, with a late-night set of Latin and electronic dance. General admission is standing room only, or you can head upstairs for first-come VIP balcony access with a private bar. Early ticket pricing ends soon.

Florida Burlesque Show at Dart Bar

Florida Times-Union's former Senior Staff Photographer Bob Self is closing out Mandarin Museum’s spring lecture series with four decades' worth of Jacksonville photos and stories. His lens has captured everything from block parties to breaking news, threading personal and city history together. The lecture runs one hour with a casual refreshment setup beforehand. Kodiak Arts Showcase 2025
A year’s worth of student work across visual art and music gets its moment on display—each student contributes at least one piece. The school band This Side Up is running a live set in the courtyard while El Agave Azul and Kona Ice handle snacks and sugar highs. It’s part gallery, part block party, with a mix of ceramics, mosaics, portraiture, and impromptu solos. This one’s all about the students doing the most before the school year signs off. No pressure, but the kids understood the assignment.

Bird Cult Installation – Bunny Morse at Dart Bar

Spaces and Places Art Exhibition Closing
Catch the final afternoon of "Spaces and Places," a show featuring new pieces by Zora Neale Hurston fellows Teresa Cook and Emily Mitchell. The exhibit digs into community, history, and the idea of home, with work inspired by Jacksonville’s own Gullah Geechee heritage. Trail of Transformation Community Hike
Cosmic Key Makers are leading a two-hour nature hike mixed with breathwork, group talks, and mindfulness practice. FinFest is back with a beachy bash to raise funds for the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center. Expect island vibes, complimentary valet, and a lively night of drinks, bites, and fundraising at the stunning Timuquana Country Club. Konpa Night in JAX – Flag Day Pre-Celebration at Randevou Caribbean Bar
An all-night Haitian Flag Day pre-celebration with dinner, dancing, and a Konpa workshop led by instructor Caleb. Hosted by Sir Will, the night moves from a sit-down meal (7–9p) into a dance floor crash course (9–11p), then a full party ‘til 2a. Music spans Konpa, Kizomba, AfroBeats, and Merengue. Caribbean food and drinks available all night. Dress code is red, white, and blue.

Wine Down in the Parks at Balis Park
A walkable tasting event across three San Marco parks featuring drinks from Aardwolf, Grape & Grain, Voodoo Brewing, Tepeyolot, and The Local. Wine comes courtesy of The Bearded Pig, with small bites and live music at each stop. Everything’s outdoors and tied to the San Marco Preservation Society’s work maintaining the neighborhood’s public spaces. Ticket includes unlimited food and drink, and the parks are closed to anyone without one. This year also marks San Marco’s 100th birthday, so expect some extra nods to that.
