Round Up Boogy: Hannah Middlebrooks Ceramics Exhibition at Sago Coffee
Sago Coffee hosts the opening reception for ceramic artist Hannah Middlebrooks’ senior exhibit! The show pairs sculptural work with live jazz by the Ethan Grussgott Quartet. This is part gallery, part hangout with ocean air and ceramic flair. As a new fan of Hannah’s work, I think this is definitely an opening I’ll be crossing the ditch for!

Jacksonville Spring Boat Show (3 days)
The North Florida Marine Association hosts three days of boats, vendors, food, and family-friendly fun right on the river. Arrive by boat for free entry or hit the gate for seminars, live reggae from Paper City Hustlers, and a kids’ fishing scavenger hunt. Expect everything from fishing boats to pontoons, inflatables, and ski craft on display. Captain Tommy Derringer gives a Saturday/Sunday talk on inshore fishing techniques, and daily eats include The Saucy Pig, Jag Boilers, and Heart and Soul. Jazz in the Garden at St. John’s Cathedral Burwell Court
The North Florida Jazz Quartet is bringing smooth, melodic jazz to the gardens of St. John’s Cathedral for an evening that leans more classy than chaotic. Led by Dr. Marc Dickman, the group blends contemporary and Latin influences with jazz standards, creating a sound that fits the setting. 46th Historic Springfield Tour of Homes & Gardens
A two-day self-guided tour through eight properties in Springfield, including historic homes, restored bungalows, and garden spaces. The tour starts at the SPAR Building (1321 N Main St) at noon, with live music and refreshments setting the mood. Complimentary shuttles make it easy to explore without breaking a sweat. This is Jacksonville’s oldest neighborhood, and every house has a story. Walk through the past, get inspired, and maybe rethink that DIY renovation project.

Marsh Fest 2025 at Ink Factory Brewing
Ink Factory’s throwing a full parking lot takeover with skiffs, seafood, and a fresh beer release. Opening of the Beaches Weekend | Parade + Sandcastle Contest
As part of the Opening of the Beaches weekend, the 46th Annual Sandcastle Contest will be held on Saturday, April 26 just north of the Jacksonville Beach Pier at 2pm
The parade will take place in the heart of Jacksonville Beach on Sunday, April 27th. The parade will start at 5th Ave N and 2nd Street. Once started,
the parade will travel north to 11th Avenue North and 2nd Street, then turn East towards the ocean. Once the parade reaches 1st Street, it will turn south and travel all the way to Beach Blvd where it will reach its conclusion.

Jazz Discovery Series: The Reintroduction
Celebrate Duke Ellington’s birthday with a reintroduction to one of Jax’s most loved jazz series. Spring Pop-Up Record Shop at Spruce
Modern Music’s back at Spruce in Murray Hill for a one-day vinyl takeover built for deep crate divers and casual browsers alike. Farm to Table at The Riverside House
The Junior League is back with their annual fundraiser, this time spotlighting Chef Andrea Bryant-Smith and a local-first grazing table that’s as beautiful as it is flavorful. Expect thoughtfully sourced bites, wine, a silent auction, and an optional flower bar to craft your own bouquet. It’s a fundraiser with flair—and a mission: highlighting the importance of food rooted in community. Tickets include a meet-and-greet with the chef at 6, and an extra $20 gets you in on the flower fun. Perfect for anyone who appreciates where their food comes from and who it supports.

River City Dancing With The Stars
Jacksonville’s local leaders team up with ballroom pros to battle it out for the mirror ball trophy. Audience votes ($1 = 1 vote) and judges’ scores decide the winner, with proceeds supporting scholarships for the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus. Produced with All About Ballroom, the event highlights polished routines and a whole lot of personality. Judges will rate performances from 1 to 10 as these “stars” take the stage. The competition is a mix of dance, fun, and community-driven support.

The Main Room at Main St. Pocket Park
Main Street Pocket Park’s turning into a quiet outdoor theater with three screens showing short films, music videos, and a feature—all made in Jacksonville. Audio’s through Hush Hush Headphones, so you can bounce between whatever pulls you in. It’s a full living room setup outside, with limited seating and folks bringing blankets to settle in. Food vendors will be nearby, and popcorn’s unlimited. Everything’s screened under the lights, with no noise but what you tune into.

Strides for Pride 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run
JASMYN’s Strides for Pride returns with a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile fun run, raising support for LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults. Registration includes a race shirt, finisher medals, and a limited-edition hat for the first 150 chipped 5K finishers. Awards go to the largest running teams and top fundraisers. The 5K starts at 8a, followed by the 1-mile at 8:10a. Registration is tiered, so the earlier you sign up, the cheaper it is.

April Jax Veg Fest at Myrtle Avenue Brewing
Jax Veg Fest is back with a spring edition celebrating vegan food, crafts, and music. Hosted at Myrtle Avenue Brewing, this family-friendly event features local vendors, live performances, and plenty of plant-based eats. The main show starts at 8 with a curated collection that feels more Met Gala than mall. Fresh Squeezed: Jungle Dance Night
Duval’s own Black queer dance party collective is stepping out with their first-ever event, and it’s a full-on jungle. Jungle, juke, club, and house tracks will keep you moving all night, spun by DJ Sabu, DJ m4gikalgrl, DJ Asexual, and DJ RAWRY T. Rooted in the lineage of Black queer house music, Fresh Squeeze[d] isn’t just a party—it’s connection as resistance. Come as your wildest self (animal prints encouraged) and find your people on the dance floor. Sliding scale at the door, and no one turned away for lack of funds.

Flagler College Print Fest at Crisp-Ellert Art Museum
Support the next wave of printmakers at this one-night pop-up showcasing student work from Flagler College’s Spring 2025 Printmaking/Intaglio & Relief class. From dry point to relief prints, you’ll find bold, affordable art from emerging voices ready to be collected. Hosted by the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, this is the kind of event where you get to buy local and future-famous in the same breath. Plus—no admission fee, no excuses.

The Creative Club ft. Terron Darby at Wildcrafters
One of my favorite experiences as of late, The Creative Club, is back for their May rendition! This is a monthly gathering hosted by Helena Acosta, which serves as an open space for sharing—whether through poetry, music, visual art, or just listening. It’s about using creativity as a healing practice. Each month a different artist is featured & they’ll have the floor for about 20 minutes, followed by other creatives who chose to enter their name to be picked & to speak for a few minutes. This month’s guest is Terron Darby! Since the early ’90s, Terron has been a vital part of the underground electronic scene and record label owner : @DanceArtifakts!

The Groove Suite : May Edition at Blue in San Marco
Mr. Al Pete brings the legendary Groove Suite back for round 2, pairing abstract soundscapes with soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, and R&B at the newly opened, Blue San Marco. The $40 ticket covers a curated round of apps and a signature drink from the house bar. First-come seating, no VIP section—just come for a GOOD time. Finger Mullet Film Festival
The Finger Mullet Film Festival is back with a night of experimental and indie short films. Expect a mix of regional, national, and international films, plus a special performance by festival co-founder Kevin Mahoney. The festival highlights bold storytelling and emerging voices in the film world. Free and open to the public, with screenings meant to spark conversation and creative collaboration.

Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach
The 60th annual Shrimp Festival is back, taking over Fernandina’s historic district with three days of seafood, art, music, and pirate-fueled fun. Expect over 300 artists and crafters, 75+ antique vendors, and food booths run by local nonprofits serving up everything from shrimp boils to gumbo. Live music hits two stages, and the Friday night fireworks show lights up the riverfront. Don’t miss the Thursday night parade (May 1, 6:00p) and Sunday’s Blessing of the Fleet.

Joining them are Florida’s own The Venus and Kale James (formerly Kale That Raps), whose 2024 album IT’S PERSONAL has been making waves. Doors open at 6 with a local vendor market before the music kicks off at 7. Expect live sets from The Venus at 7, Kale James at 8, and Ghost Funk at 9. It’s a standing-room-only night curated by the Jacksonville Music Experience—don’t miss the energy.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in Concert

Turkish Food Fest
This all-day fest is serving up some of the best Turkish flavors in town—think baklava, kebabs, Turkish coffee, and more. As If! ‘90s Fest in St Augustine

This is where you’ll find me! Over 40 artists will be painting large-scale murals live on 14th Street, turning the Phoenix Arts District into an open-air gallery. You’ll find muralists, graffiti writers, and street artists creating everything from bold portraits to abstract walls. Vendors like The Block Skate Supply, Kingdom Clothing, and Wolf & Cub will be set up, while Naked Kitchen, Blacker the Coffee, and Fishwier Brewing handle the food and drinks. Live art, community, and perfect weather. If you come closer to sunset time, you’ll see the murals being closer to being complete, and you can walk over to the exhibit opening of CHAMPLOO right after!

Mandarin Art Festival 2025
Since 1968, the Mandarin Art Festival has brought artists, makers, and the community together. This year features 120+ juried artists, a green market, and a food court lined with local vendors. Inside the historic clubhouse, you’ll find a children’s art show, a bake sale, and hands-on activities. Free parking and a shuttle make getting there easy, but rideshares are encouraged. No pets—just art, food, and fresh air.

Jax Community Fair & Family Day
