Dustin Harewood is easily one of the most recognizable artists / teachers in the city, and if you’ve ever been inside an art collector’s house, there’s a high probability you’ve seen his work without knowing it. His new solo exhibit “I Feel it Fading” opens up at the UNF Gallery of Art, and leave it to Mr. Harewood to leave the description vague enough to garner mass attention. I’ll see you all there!
“Reflecting on Langston Hughes poem, 'A Dream Deferred.' But instead of a dream, I'm thinking of culture deferred. The experience I've had living and working for long periods of time away from my Caribbean culture... "does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore- and then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?" - Dustin Harewood
