The John Lumpkin Institute’s “State of Jazz Workshop” is focused on mentorship, composition, and small-group collaboration. The young artist will spend their day rehearsing in different combos, sharing original compositions with the faculty, and learning how to manage a life of artistry. They also will have access to jazz festival managers, composers, and artists within a panel to have a live question and answer portion. At the end of their workshop, the artists will have pivotal steps for their careers and get to premiere their original works and talents in a concert open to the public.
