Firstly, if you’ve never seen a 5 & Dime production before, please GO! After their location closed down during the pandemic, they’ve persevered and still put on plays at various locations, like this one at the Florida Ballet venue. “Lobby Hero” was first shown off-broadway in 2001 and recently revived on Broadway in 2018 with Chris Evans, Micheal Cera, etc. The play is about a down-on-his-luck security guard who falls in love with a female police officer in the building while observing a possible criminal cover-up involving his boss in the lobby and the police officer's partner. Be ready to dive into polarizing conversations about abuse of power, sexism, & race - that are more relevant than ever.
