This event will introduce a community-centered research project, Prioritizing Spatial Justice in Neighborhood Revitalization: Adaptation and Resilience Building in Jacksonville. The focus is on the inequitable distribution of resources, services, and access in Jacksonville, and the 2-year project will center the needs, experiences, and potential of underserved communities in the Urban Core of Jacksonville. These communities face injustices, both historic and contemporary, as they attempt to improve their local infrastructure as part of broader efforts towards health and wellbeing.
Edward Waters College (EWC) is partnering with the University of Florida (UF) and the Jacksonville Center for Children's Rights to integrate community-designed spatial justice principles into Jacksonville’s infrastructure planning. This event will provide information about how people in the community can become involved in the research (including compensation for your time and effort) and will include activities to build relationships and develop ideas and strategies for the project.
