Subtropical Exposition is the first solo show by Jacksonville-based artist Michael F. Slayton, taking place at Share Art Gallery.

In Slayton's signature quirky and playful style, this new body of work explores the contradiction that is Florida his home state, a state that draws more tourists for a cartoon mouse than for its abundance of natural beauty. Using traditional Florida iconography Slayton's work encourages viewers to simultaneously laugh at and fall in love with Florida. His collection of original works and wooden sculptures demonstrates a joyful yet thought-provoking perspective on the Sunshine State
