Sip-N-Parol: A Philippine Christmas Lantern Ornament Making Class at MOSH

  • MOSH 1025 Museum Circle Jacksonville, FL, 32207 United States (map)

Come out and enjoy a unique experience at MOSH! We will be learning to make a parol together and every attendee will have a beautiful ornament to take home with them when we are finished! A parol is a Filipino ornamental lantern displayed during the Christmas season. It is a local adaptation of the Hispanic tradition of carrying small light sources during the nine-day Christmas Novena procession leading up to the midnight mass (called Simbang Gabi) in the Philippines. Expert partners from Jax Filipinos (School of Language and Culture) will guide participants in creating the parol ornament and larger completed parols will be available for purchase.
Admission includes all the needed materials for creating your parol, as well as light refeshments (lumpia!) and two drink tickets (wine and beer will be available; soft drinks for participants under 21).
